TORONTO - Toronto FC will be without captain Steven Caldwell when it hosts the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday.

The veteran Scottish defender suffered a quad tear in Saturday's 4-2 comeback win over the Houston Dynamo.

Caldwell was slated to undergo a scan Tuesday to assess the extent of the damage but manager Ryan Nelsen said he could be out for weeks.

Toronto will get little sympathy from Vancouver.

The Whitecaps played without injured centre backs Jay DeMerit and Andy O'Brien in their 3-1 loss to Chivas USA on the weekend.

Plus fullback Jordan Harvey was sent off in the game, meaning he will have to sit out the Toronto contest.
