After reports surfaced in Costa Rica, defender Kendall Waston has confirmed via his own Twitter account that he is joining the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The 26-year-old played his last game for his club, Saprissa, over the weekend and his move to Vancouver is set to be confirmed soon.

The Whitecaps have been wanting to add a central defender following the retirement of club captain Jay DeMerit.

Major League Soccer's international transfer window closes on August 6th.
