Juwan Simpson has signed a contract extension with the Calgary Stampeders. In 18 regular season games last year, Simpson compiled 74 tackles and four sacks.

The 30-year-old veteran has been with the team since 2008, and has 368 tackles, 22 sacks, and two interceptions.

"Juwan has been an integral part of our defence and a valuable presence in our locker room for a number of years and I look for that to continue," Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel said in a team release. "The middle linebacker position is key for any team and Juwan provides great stability and productivity for us."

"I couldn't imagine playing anywhere else but Calgary," Simpson said in the team release. "I love playing with the guys on this team, especially the group on defence that arrived in Calgary with me in 2008 - Charleston Hughes, Keon Raymond and Brandon Smith. I'm looking forward to the challenge of defending the championship in 2015."
