The Dallas Stars traded a goaltender on Saturday, but not from their National Hockey League roster.

The team sent Jack Campbell to the Los Angeles Kings for defenceman Nick Ebert during the second day of the NHL Entry Draft from Buffalo.

The 11th-overall pick in 2010 out of the United States National Development Team, Campbell has yet to live up to expectations as a pro. Campbell has made a single NHL start, in 2013 against the Anaheim Ducks.

A 24-year-old native of Port Huron, Michigan, Campbell split time last season with the American Hockey League's Texas Stars and the Idaho Steelheads of the East Coast Hockey League.

Campbell backstopped the United States to a gold medal in the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships in Saskatchewan.

Going the other way is Ebert, a 22-year-old blueliner from Livingston, New Jersey. Taken in the seventh round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft out of the Ontario Hockey League's Windsor Spitfires, Ebert spent last season with the Ontario Reign of the AHL.
