Ricky Ray will be back under centre next week with the Toronto Argonauts.

The team announced that Ray will start their next game, next Wednesday against the B.C. Lions.

The Argos removed Ray from the six-game injured list last week and the veteran quarterback was throwing to receivers at practice.

Toronto put Ray on the six-game injured list after he suffered a sprained left knee in its 30-17 home win over Montreal on July 25.

Logan Kilgore assumed starting duties with Ray sidelined, posting a 1-2 record. He led Toronto to a 23-20 win over Ottawa in his first CFL start on on August 6 but threw five interceptions in a 34-17 home loss to Winnipeg and tallied just 41 yards on seven completions in a 46-23 loss to Edmonton on Saturday.

The Argonauts play two games in six days on Week 11, visiting the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for their Labour Day Classic on September 5.

Prior to getting injured, Ray completed 73.7 per cent of his passes for 1,235 yards, nine touchdowns and one interception

Ray has already hit a number of milestones in 2016, moving into fourth on the CFL’s all-time passing yards list (53,721) in Week 4 while vaulting himself into second on the Argos’ all-time passing touchdowns list (80) during the team's Week 5 win at home.
