A day after Wade Redden refused to waive his no-trade clause, he reiterated his desire to stay in Ottawa.

Redden, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, feels the Senators present the best opportunity for him to win the Stanley Cup.

"I have a lot of faith in the guys in this room and what we're setting out to do," Redden said. "I'm part of that and I'm looking forward to that challenge."

Sources told TSN that Senators general manager Bryan Murray met with Redden on Friday about the possibility of waiving his no-trade clause.

While Murray did not deny the meeting took place, he was not happy the media found out about it.

"It was a conversation about our team, about Wade's play within the team and I made a comment to him," Murray said. "I never asked him to waive a no-trade. I didn't ask him to do anything like that."

"I said there is a team with an outside interest in your services, do you want to talk about it. And it was not to put pressure on Wade Redden or anybody else to give up anything."

Sources indicated the request was made following an inquiry from the San Jose Sharks into Redden's availability but Murray would not confirm the team.

"I feel bad for the other team. That should never be made public," Murray said. "I hear all the names mentioned and I can guarantee you not one of the names that has been put out there was mentioned or was of interest to our team financially or in ability."

Redden will be paired with Joe Corvo tonight when the Senators take on the Canadiens at Scotiabank Place.
