Sources tell TSN Brooks Orpik has agreed to a 6 year, 22.5 million dollar deal to remain with the Pittsburgh Penguins.  The contract averages 3.75 million per year.

"Brooks has become a mainstay of our blue line and played an important role in our run to the Stanley Cup Final," said Pens general manager Ray Shero. "He provides the kind of physical presence you need on a Cup contender, and his work ethic, preparation and determination are second to none."

Orpik picked up one goal and 11 assists in 78 games for the Eastern Conference playoff champions a year ago. He led the league in hits (102) and blocked shots (61) during the postseason.

The 6-foot-2, 219-pound native of San Francisco, California has played his entire career with the Penguins, after being drafted by the club in the 1st round, 18th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

The 28-year-old has recorded 36 points and 392 PIM in 297 career games.
