FLIMS, Switzerland -- The Canadian women's team picked up a pair of victories Wednesday to secure a playoff berth at the world junior curling championships.

Skip Rachel Homan, an Ottawa native, helped Canada to a 7-6 victory over Scotland and a 9-3 rout of the Czech Republic.

Canada, the lone unbeaten rink at 8-0, has locked up a spot in Friday night's 1-2 playoff game. Sweden is next at 6-2 while Russia, the U.S., and Switzerland are in third place at 5-3.

In men's play, the Canadian team dropped a 9-7 decision to host Switzerland.

Skip Jake Walker of Kitchener, Ont., fell into a tie for third place with China and Switzerland at 5-2. Norway and Scotland share the overall lead at 6-1.

Norway defeated Denmark 7-5 and Scotland topped the United States 8-3. Sweden needed an extra end to complete a 7-6 victory over Finland.
