Free agent forward Patrick Kaleta has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres worth $1.815 million, the club announced on Wednesday.
Kaleta had been slated for a club-elected arbitration hearing later in July.
"I was never a big fan of arbitration, going in there and pleading cases," Kaleta told the CANADIAN PRESS. "So I'm happy to get it over and done with and not have to worry about it."
The 24-year-old set career high marks in goals (10) and points (15) in 55 games with the Sabres last season, adding two points in the post-season.
Kaleta, a native of Angola, New York, was drafted 176th overall by Buffalo in the sixth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
