Taylor Hall's playing status remains unknown as the Edmonton Oilers forward did not attend the team's practice in St. Louis on Wednesday.

The team also didn't indicate when the sophomore winger would return to the lineup.

"He's doing much better. Swelling has gone down, he's got a clear head, he had a good night's sleep," Oilers head coach Tom Renney said in a video posted on the team's website. "All that being said, I would call it doubtful for (Thursday), which I don't think would surprise anyone. If you talked to Taylor he would say he's hopeful, but we'll see."

Hall was cut above the eye by a teammate Corey Potter's skate during warm-ups on Tuesday night as the team prepared to face the Columbus Blue Jackets. He required 30 stitches to close the cut and missed all of the game - a 4-2 Oilers loss.

Hall stepped on a puck during warm-ups and got tangled up with Oilers defenceman Ladislav Smid as both players fell to the ice. Potter came around the boards and tried to jump over Hall, but ended up stepping on his face.

Hall has 15 goals and 16 assists in 36 games this season.
