The Montreal Alouettes have re-signed jack of all trades Avon Cobourne to a new deal and defensive back Randee Drew to a contract extension.
''Avon and Randee are not only quality players but are also quality leaders,'' said Alouettes' vice president and general manager Jim Popp. ''We are excited to have them with us for many years to come.''
The Alouettes also announced the signings of quarterback Josh Harris, running back Larry Croom, receiver Nate Morton and defensive back Jay Staggs.
Cobourne returned 10 kickoffs for 210 yards on top of 11 punt returns for 70 yards in 2007. He also added 13 special teams tackles. After beginning the year at linebacker, he also played on offence later in the year. At running back, he carried the ball 33 times and averaged 4.8 yards per carry and a pair of touchdowns.
Drew was the Alouettes' 2007 Most Outstanding Rookie. In a season in which he was consistently matched up against his opponents' most threatening receivers, he led the team with four interceptions and finished second with 67 tackles.
