The agent for Vincent Lecavalier says that if his client wants out of Tampa Bay – as was suggested on Hockey Night in Canada report on Saturday night – it's news to him and the Tampa Bay Lightning centre.
"Vinny has never asked to be traded and has no intentions to ask for a trade," Kent Hughes said. "I don't know who could have possibly suggested that he would because Vinny is happy in Tampa. There's just no truth to it."
Lecavalier has a year remaining on his contract. The Lightning's potential new owner Oren Koules has already indicated his first order of business when the deal closes and is approved by the NHL is to lock up Lecavalier on a new-long term extension.
"That's certainly the plan," Lightning GM Jay Feaster said. "I have had a number of conversations with Vinny recently and at no time did he indicate to me that he has any problem in Tampa. Quite the opposite, in fact."
