The Tampa Bay Lightning have told Andre Roy to stay away from the team for a week.
Roy was sent home by the Lightning following a March 6 game in Philadelphia in which he had to be physically restrained by a linesman and, after reaching the bench, by head coach John Tortorella.
Roy was agitated after a replay of his second fight of the night with Riley Cote was shown on the scoreboard. The fight had not gone well for Roy, and the Flyers allegeldy jeered him from the bench during the replay.
Roy was sent home the following morning.
Lightning Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster released a statement on Monday after the team decided to keep Roy at home for the week.
"Today I met with Andre Roy, and also met with John Tortorella and members of his coaching staff, regarding not just the incident that took place between periods and on the bench during the third period in Philadelphia on March 6, but also other situations that have taken place this season involving Andre," Feater said i nthe statment.
"At this time I have directed Andre to take the week off away from the team, with pay, while our internal discussions and overall review continues. We will not have any further statement or comment to make at this time, and Andre has been asked by the Club not to discuss the matter with the media, until such time as there is a conclusive resolution."
