The Montreal Canadiens were without captain Saku Koivu and defenceman Mark Streit for Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The extent of the injuries won't be known until doctors take a closer look on Monday, but radio station Team 990 in Montreal reported that Koivu could be out of the lineup for four weeks.
The club denied the report prior to the game.
Both players suffered their injuries in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over Buffalo.
Streit has recorded 18 goals and 40 assists in 78 games this season, while Koivu has 16 goals and 40 assists in 77 contests.
