The Tampa Bay Lightning made a minor shuffle to their roster on Tuesday, claiming forward Matt Pettinger off re-entry waivers from the Vancouver Canucks and placing winger Jason Ward on waivers.

With Pettinger claimed, the Canucks will pay half his salary this season and count it against their salary cap.

Pettinger was acquired by the Canucks from the Washington Capitals last February in exchange for left wing Matt Cooke.

He was demoted to the AHL's Manitoba Moose before the season opener after clearing waivers and has two goals in three AHL games.

Ward, 29, has been sidelined by a groin injury this season. In 335 career NHL games with the Lightning, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings and Montreal Canadiens, he has 36 goals and 81 points.

The St. Louis Blues were also active on Tuesday claiming David Koci from Tampa Bay.

Also, Vancouver's Kyle Wellwood, Darren McCarty of Detroit and Sharks defenceman Lukas Kaspar all cleared the transaction wire, New York Rangers forward Patrick Rissmiller and Anaheim Ducks defenceman Ken Klee have been placed on waivers.
