Mats Sundin is en route to New York.
The unrestricted free agent may meet with Rangers general manager Glenn Sather and team officials this evening, otherwise this highly anticipated meeting may not take place until Sunday due to promotional commitments Sundin has with PokerStars on Saturday.
Once Sundin hears from New York and gets a strong read on their intent, he will be better prepared to make his decision.
That final decision is expected on either Tuesday or Wednesday; however Sundin isn't expected to join his new club until December 27th.
Sundin and his agent J.P. Barry are in the midst of "whittling" down the number of interested teams from 10 or so to no more than four or five legitimate candidates.
It's believed the four prime candidates with great interest in Sundin that is mutual are the Rangers, Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks and Montreal Canadiens.
