Canada defeated Sweden 4-2 in its first exhibition game on Friday. The Canadians looked strong in the win but it came at a cost as Dana Tyrell went down to injury.

Tyrell, of the WHL's Prince George Cougars, suffered a knee injury and was lost to Canada for the rest of the tournament. As a result, Vancouver Giants' Evander Kane will join the team.

Kane is expected to arrive at the airport today at 4pm et andshould dress for the game, but head coach Pat Quinn has not committed to playing the forward against Finland.

The 17-year-old Kane is sixth in the WHL in scoring with 22 goals and 26 assists over 28 games this season.

Kane was a member of Canada's gold medal winning under-18 team at the 2008 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament this past August.

Canada will be facing a Finland team headed by centre Niklas Lucenius and defenceman Jyri Niemi.

Lucenius was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fourth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and had six points over six games in the World Junior Championship a year ago.

Niemi plays for the Saskatoon Blades in the WHL and was a third round pick of the New York Islanders in 2008.
