And then there were two.

We began with 20 plays and thanks to thousands of votes, we have boiled the 2008-09 Play of the Year down to one classic question: the save vs. the goal. Some believe that goals should always trump saves. Others champion the athleticism and quick-reacting instincts of the netminder.

Be sure to check out the bracket below for the complete picture and watch the video in the right media bar to see the plays.

This Calder Trophy finalist travelled a difficult and unexpected road to reach the final of the Play of the Year Showdown. In Pool B, Ryan defeated some truly unique plays. In the first semi-final, Ryan upset a wild Alex Ovechkin goal that many considered to be the favourite to win the Showdown. Ryan didn't just beat Ovechkin - he crushed the reigning Hart Trophy winner with an impressive 63.6% of the vote.

Miikka Kiprusoff "Too Hot to Handle"

While Miikka Kiprusoff's run may have been a little more expected, it is no less impressive. In Pool C, Kipper earned a decisive victory in an extremely competitive group. In the second semi-final matchup, the Flames netminder made short work of a brilliant individual effort by Johan Franzen with 64.9% of the vote - the highest percentage in the competition.
