New York, NY (Sports Network) - Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard was assessed a one-game suspension by the NBA on Wednesday for his actions in the team's 91-78 win over the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.

The Orlando superstar will miss Game 6 of the series on Thursday night at the Wachovia Center in Philly.

Howard was given a technical foul with 9:15 remaining in the first quarter when he elbowed 76ers center Samuel Dalembert in the head.

The Magic lead the best-of-seven series 3-2. Game 7, if necessary, will be played on Saturday at Amway Arena in Orlando.
