The Hamilton Bulldogs and Toronto Marlies will open their preseason schedules against each other in Edinburgh, Scotland next September.
The two AHL teams will participate in The Gardiner Cup, a four-team tournament to be played in honour of Charles 'Chuck' Garidner, the first Scot to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1945.
''Both organizations saw this as a wonderful opportunity for their players and staff to see a part of the world that might be new to them, while at the same time, prepare for the upcoming AHL season,'' said Hamilton Bulldogs President and Governor Glenn Stanford. ''We're looking forward to opening our pre-season in Edinburgh before returning home to finish training camp and the pre-season in preparation for our 14th season in Hamilton.''
The Bulldogs and Marlies will face off in an exhibition game on September 24 and the tournament will begin tow days later.
The Bulldogs will take on the Blefast Giants in the first semifinal on September 26 and the Marlies will battle the Edinburgh Capitals in the second semifinal. The two winners will square off the championship on September 27.
