Scott Rolen is on his way to the Cincinnati Reds.

The Reds will send third-baseman Edwin Encarnacion, reliever Josh Roenicke and pitching prospect Zach Stewart to Toronto in exchange for the 34-year old Rolen.

The seven-time Gold Glover is having a tremendous season for Toronto, leading the team with a .320 batting average with eight home runs and 43 RBIs in 88 games with the Jays.

"Scotty, he's actually got some personal reasons for wanting to be traded, and we tried to accommodate him for that, and we did." said Blue Jays senior vice-president of baseball operations and general manager J.P. Ricciardi. "We made what we thought was a good trade."

The Jasper, Indiana native captured the 1997 National League Rookie of the Year award and has played in five All-Star games.  He returns to the National League where he has spent the majority of his career, including helping the St. Louis Cardinals capture the World Series in 2007.
