Canucks tough guy Darcy Hordichuk has been fined $2,500 by the National Hockey League for his hit on Columbus Blue Jackets winger Jared Boll in Monday's contest in Vancouver.

Boll was helped off the ice after absorbing a vicious hit by Hordichuk early in the first period of the contest.

Racing along the boards to win a puck and clear it from his zone, Boll was cleanly checked by Rick Rypien.  Following the collision, Hordichuk blindsided him and drove Boll's head into the dasher board. Boll was down and out for a relatively long period of time and even as he was helped to the dressing room, he appeared groggy and dazed.

Hordichuk, who has been suspended twice by the NHL, was assessed a two-minute minor penalty for roughing.
