Randolph powers Grizzlies past Timberwolves

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Zach Randolph posted 20 points, pulled down 12 rebounds and dished out five assists, as Memphis downed Minnesota, 135-110, at FedExForum.

Rudy Gay connected for 21 points, and O.J. Mayo also had 20 with seven assists for the Grizzlies, who posted their fifth win in seven games.

Mike Conley scored 18 points with eight assists, and Sam Young tallied 17 points in a reserve role for Memphis, which posted a season-high in points.

Corey Brewer recorded a game-high 22 points, and Al Jefferson added 21 for the Timberwolves, losers in four straight and nine of 10. Wayne Ellington scored 17 in defeat.

Ahead by seven at the break, the Grizzlies coasted to a comfortable lead with a strong third quarter.

Conley started the burst with a three, Gay added two three-pointers and collected 10 points in all, and Marc Gasol capped the surge with a turnaround bucket for an 83-67 game with 7:27 left in the frame.

Randolph drained a trey to up Memphis' edge to 93-73 with 4:32 to play, and Conley's shot from long range pushed the Grizzlies into triple digits at 100-77 inside of two minutes remaining.

The home team led by 25 heading to the fourth, and extended their advantage to 108-81 on a jumper from Lester Hudson on the first bucket of the period. Memphis' advantage never dropped below 20 for the rest of the contest, and went as high as 30 with 3:35 to play on a three-point play from DeMarre Carroll.

Mayo's 10-point effort helped Memphis take a 35-30 lead after one quarter, and Gasol's eight points, including four during a quarter-ending 8-2 run, pushed the Grizzlies' edge to 66-59 at the break.

Memphis has won all three meetings this season, with one more matchup, on February 6, in Minneapolis...Hudson and Carroll both finished with nine points...Kevin Love posted 14 points and nine rebounds for Minnesota.
