Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Flyers added depth to their backline, bringing in defenseman Lucas Krajicek.

The Daily News reported on Saturday that the club signed the free agent to a contract, and that Krajicek accompanied the team on a flight to Calgary to start a three-game road trip next week.

Krajicek recorded one assist in 23 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning earlier this season, before being placed on waivers by the club on December 11. After clearing waivers the next day, he was assigned to Norfolk of the AHL.

The Czech native played 15 games with the Admirals before leaving the team last week -- a move which allowed the Lightning to terminate his $1.475 million contract and making the 26-year-old an unrestricted free agent.

The move was necessary since defenseman Ryan Parent is out until March following back surgery and backliner Danny Syvret is not progressing in rehab for a separated left shoulder.

Over 301 career games with Florida, Vancouver and Tampa Bay, Krajicek has 10 goals, 70 points and 231 penalty minutes.
