New York, NY (Sports Network) - Ottawa Senators goaltender Brian Elliott, Detroit Red Wings netminder Jimmy Howard and New Jersey Devils left wing Ilya Kovalchuk have been named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending March 28.
Elliott won all four of his starts, including shutouts of Montreal and Philadelphia on consecutive days, to earn First Star honors. He finished the week with a 1.00 goals-against average and .966 save percentage, helping Ottawa in its bid to return to the playoffs.
Howard, a Calder Trophy candidate as the league's top rookie, was equally as stingy between the pipes to take Second Star honors. Howard won all four of his starts while posting a 1.22 GAA and .958 save percentage, capping his stellar week with a 1-0 shootout victory in Nashville on Saturday.
