New York, NY (Sports Network) - The Toronto Raptors acquired center Solomon Alabi, the 50th overall pick, from the Dallas Mavericks in a draft-night deal.
Alabi, who played at Florida State, will head to the Raptors, while the Mavs obtain a future second-round pick and cash considerations.
During his sophomore season, Alabi topped the Seminoles with averages of 11.7 points and 6.2 rebounds, helping FSU to a third-place finish in the ACC standings and a trip to the NCAA Tournament where they fell to Gonzaga in the first round.
A native of Nigeria, the 22-year-old Alabi led the ACC for a second consecutive season with a career-high 75 blocked shots and set a school record by averaging 2.3 swats per game. The 7-foot-1 Alabi was a two-time ACC All- Defensive team selection in both his freshman and sophomore years.
