Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers have activated goaltender Ondrej Pavelec from injured reserve.

Pavelec has not played since he suffered a type of fainting spell during the club's season-opener. The 23-year-old Czech collapsed and lost consciousness just 2:25 into the October 8 contest against the Washington Capitals.

He lay motionless for several minutes as trainers attended to him and was eventually carted off the ice on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital, where he regained consciousness and was diagnosed with a concussion.

"(The doctors) did all testing for my brain and my heart," said Pavelec while addressing the media last week. "They said I just fainted. It's nothing serious and hopefully it will never happen again. They said I'm ready to go. I need some practice to get into game shape. Hopefully it will never happen again."

The Thrashers assigned goaltender Peter Mannino to Chicago of the American Hockey League to make room on the roster for Pavelec. Mannino appeared in one game for Atlanta, stopping 15 of 16 shots in relief of Chris Mason on October 22 against Tampa Bay.
