More tests needed to determine severity of Markov injury Staff

The waiting game continues for the Montreal Canadiens and defenceman Andrei Markov.

On Tuesday, the veteran blueliner visited with renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Anthony Miniaci at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio in an attempt to determine the full extent of a knee injury suffered in a November 13th victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Unfortunately for both the Canadiens and Markov, the Russian defenceman will require even further assessment before it can be determined how much time he will miss or the severity of the injury.

There has been plenty of speculation that the 31-year old Markov could miss up to six months if surgery is needed to repair the same knee that required surgery this past off-season.  However, CJAD is reporting that head coach Jacques Martin has not ruled out the likelihood of Markov returning this season.

Markov has been limited to just seven games this season, scoring once and adding two assists.
