The Detroit Red Wings are going to be without the services of two more members of their roster.

Forward Tomas Holmstrom broke his hand late in the third period of Friday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets and is expected to miss at least four weeks of action.

The loss was even more costly for the Red Wings, as goaltender Jimmy Howard left the game in the first period with a bruised right knee after being injured by a Derick Brassard shot.

"That's just the way it goes sometimes," coach Mike Babcock said following the game. "You get injuries and you just have to fight through them."

Howard is listed as day-to-day. Goaltender Thomas McCallum will be called up from Grand Rapids to take his place.

The latest injuries are yet another in a long line suffered by the Wings, as Holmstrom and Howard join Brad Stuart (jaw), Pavel Datsyuk (hand), Dan Cleary (ankle), Mike Modano (wrist) and Chris Osgood (groin) on the sidelines.
