The Tampa Bay Lightning signed centre Nate Thompson to a 2-year extension, $1.8 million extension on Tuesday.
Thompson will receive $950,000 in the first year of the deal and $850,000 in the second year.
The Anchorage, Alaska native was claimed off waivers from the New York Islanders last season.
This year, he has 7 goals and 10 assists in 51 games.
Thompson was drafted by the Boston Bruins in 2003 but only appeared in four games with the club in the 2006-07 season.
The Islanders claimed him off waivers early in the 2008 campaign and he played 82 games over two seasons on Long Island.
