The Calgary Flames have acquired forward Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
“Pierre-Luc is a hard-hitting, physical player who tends to get under the skin of the opposition,” said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. “The way he plays the game causes other players to be aware of his presence and he is willing to defend himself and stand-up for his teammates as well.”
Letourneau-Leblond scored eight goals and five assists in 64 games with New Jersey's AHL affiliate in Albany last season while racking up 334 penalty minutes.
Originally taken in the 7th round, 216th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Devils, Letourneau-Leblond has 37 career NHL games over parts of three seasons in New Jersey.
He is in the final year of a 1-way contract with an annual salary cap hit of $525,000.
