Ray Emery's agent told ESPN.com on Wednesday that his client will attend training camp with the Chicago Blackhawks on a tryout basis in September.
Agent J.P. Barry told the website that Chicago will then have until Oct. 1 to sign Emery or release him.
The 28-year-old unrestricted free agent played well down the stretch for the Anaheim Ducks last season when starter Jonas Hiller was injured.
Emery himself came back from a career-threatening hip injury that occurred while he was with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2009-10.
"He's been training every day still with his trainer Matt Nichol," Barry told ESPN.com. "He's had a complete 100 percent recovery".
Emery signed with the Ducks in February and posted a 7-2-0 regular season record with a 2.28 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. He was 2-3 during Anaheim's first-round playoff loss to the Nashville Predators.
