St. Louis Blues forward Chris Stewart has been suspended three games for his hit from behind during Tuesday's win over the Detroit Red Wings.
The play happened with 8:46 left in the first period as Stewart was chasing the puck and pushed Red Wings defenceman Niklas Kronwall into the boards. Kronwall left the game and did return for the start of the second period.
Stewart was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for checking from behind.
After the game, Kronwall told the media that he was checked for a concussion and doesn't have one.
"I think I got lucky there," Kronwall told reporters after the game. "I think it could have ended a lot worse."
The suspension is the 15th in the NHL this year, including the pre-season. It's the first suspension of Stewart's three-year NHL career.
