USA takes on Czech Republic at World Juniors on TSN

On the eve of a big matchup with Team Canada, the United States can't look past their game this afternoon against the Czech Republic at the World Junior Hockey Championship.

After a lopsided win over Denmark in their opener, the United States dropped a 4-1 decision to Finland in Group B. Canada leads the group with nine points with the United States, Finland and the Czech Republic tied for second place with three points each.

The winner of this afternoon's game will move into at least a tie for second place in the group while the loser faces the possibility of missing the medal round. In a crucial game tomorrow afternoon, the Czech Republic faces Finland before the United States takes on Canada. With Canada already in the medal round, one of the United States, the Czech Republic and Finland will not advance to the quarterfinals.

Finland takes on Denmark on TSN2, tonight at 8pm et/5pm pt.

Minnesota Wild prospects Charlie Coyle and Jason Zucker are tied for the U.S. team lead in scoring with four points each after two games.

The Czech Republic opened the tournament with a 7-0 drubbing of Denmark before being blanked by Canada, 5-0.

Ottawa Senators draft pick Jakub Culek leads the Czech Republic in scoring with three assists in two games.
