Sean Avery was a healthy scratch for Friday's Connecticut Whale game against the Norfolk Admirals in the American Hockey League.
The New York Rangers, the NHL affiliate of the Whale, said Avery was scratched for "disciplinary reasons" .
Last Saturday, Avery cleared waivers for the second time this season and was assigned to the Whale.
He started the season in the AHL after failing to make the Rangers out of training camp and was recalled on Nov. 1. He amassed three goals and 21 penalty minutes in 15 games.
Avery had been a healthy scratch for the Rangers' last nine games before he was placed on waivers.
