Owen Sound Attack forwad Mike Halmo has been suspended indefinitely for his hit on Sarnia Sting forward Nail Yakupov, according to reports.

Yakupov required stitches to his face after taking the hit on Saturday. Halmo was given a five-minute charging major and a game misconduct on the play.

It is being reported that Yakupov will miss the remainder of the regular season and will be re-evaluated prior to the start of the OHL's playoffs, which are scheduled to begin March 22.

Rated by NHL Central Scouting as the top-rated North American skater eligible for the 2012 NHL Draft, Yakupov has 31 goals and 69 points in 42 games this season.

The captain of the Attack, Halmo ranked fifth overall in OHL scoring with 40 goals and 84 points this season.

Halmo had recently agreed to an entry-level contract with the New York Islanders.
