NEW YORK -- Colorado Mammoth forward Adam Jones was named the National Lacrosse League's top rookie Friday.
Jones is the second Colorado player to capture a league award. On Thursday, John Grant Jr. was named the NLL's most valuable player.
Jones was the third pick overall in last year's NLL draft and led all rookies with 76 points (club rookie-record 29 goals, 47 assists).
"It's a great accomplishment," Jones said in a statement. "Everyone worked hard all year.
"To me, it's more of a team award. Hopefully we can finish it off with the Champion's Cup."
The Mammoth posted an 11-5 record season to finish second in the Western Conference. The team finished had a 5-11 record in 2011.
Meanwhile, Garrett Billings of the Toronto Rock and Jordan MacIntosh of the Minnesota Swarm were named the league's rookies of the month for April.
Billings had nine goals and 19 assists as Toronto went 3-1. He also had 16 loose balls.
MacIntosh scored six goals and nine assists as Minnesota went 4-0. MacIntosh also recorded 37 loose balls and won 29 faceoffs.
