Free agent goalie Chris Mason has signed a one-year, $1.25 million with the Nashville Predators.
Mason appeared in 20 games last season backing up Ondrej Pavelec in Winnipeg. The 36-year-old finished 8-7-1 with a 2.59 goals against average, .898 save percentage, and two shutouts for the Jets.
Mason's best seasons came in 2008-09 and 2009-10 with the St. Louis Blues, where he was the starter.
In 306 career appearances, Mason has a 2.63 goals against average and .910 save percentage. The former fifth-round draft pick broke into the league with the Predators before moving on to St. Louis and then Atlanta/Winnipeg.
The Preds were in need of a second goalie to replace last season's back-up Anders Lindback, whom they dealt to the Tampa Bay Lightning earlier this off-season.
