The New Jersey Devils have re-signed goaltender Johan Hedberg to a two-year, $2.8 million contract.
Hedberg's signing re-unites the team's 2011-12 goaltending tandem as the team came to terms on a new contract with long-time starter Martin Brodeur earlier on Monday.
The 39-year-old Swedish keeper posted a 17-7-2 record with a 2.23 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in 27 appearances with the Devils last season. He also went 0-1 in just a single playoff appearance.
Originally drafted in the ninth round (218 overall) of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers, Hedberg has posted a 155-133-19 career record in 354 NHL games with the Devils, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks, Dallas Stars and Atlanta Thrashers.
