Yahoo! Sports reports that the Los Angeles Lakers met with the Orlando Magic on Tuesday to discuss a potential trade for Dwight Howard, who was reportedly in attendance at the Dodgers-Phillies game later.
Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears tweeted Tuesday afternoon that the Lakers are pushing hard to land the disgruntled centre, but are looking for a commitment from him on a long-term extension. Howard has one year left on his contract with the Magic and become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
According to reports, Howard has said he would only agree to sign an extension with the Brooklyn Nets. He averaged 20.6 points, 14.5 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game in 54 games with the Magic last season.
The Lakers already made headlines earlier this month, acquiring Steve Nash from the Phoenix Suns in a sign-and-trade deal.
