SASKATOON -- Saskatchewan quarterback Drew Burko threw a touchdown and ran in another as the No. 8 Huskies roughed up the Alberta Golden Bears 32-0 in the CIS football season opener on Friday.
Burko hit Braeden George with a 47-yard TD pass at 3:19 of the second quarter, then plunged in for a major with 10 seconds left in the first half to give Saskatchewan a 29-0 lead.
Cole Samson went 3-for-4 on field goals, connecting from the 24, 28 and 29 yards.
Jeremy Andrew had the Huskies' other touchdown when he ran in from eight-yards out at 5:03 to make it 10-0 in the first quarter.
Burko completed 13-of-24 passes for 187 yards, while being picked off twice. He also finished with 27 yards rushing.
Alberta quarterback Curtis Dell finished 16-of-33 for 147 yards and two interceptions.
Stephen Fabian missed on his only field goal attempt for the Bears.
Saskatchewan next plays Manitoba on Sept. 8, while the Golden Bears meet Calgary on Sept. 7.
