Chara, Bergeron, Benn and Duchene sign in Europe Staff

Boston Bruins defenceman Zdeno Chara has agreed to join Prague in the KHL.

Chara appeared in 79 games last season, scoring 12 goals and 40 assists and was a plus-33.

Meanwhile, a trio of stars have joined the list of players waiting out the lockout overseas.

Reigning Frank J. Selke Trophy-winner Patrice Bergeron is expected to sign with Switzerland's HC Lugano, according to USA Today's Kevin Allen. Bergeron was named the NHL's top two-way forward last season on the strength of 64 points and a plus-36 rating.

Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn has signed with Hamburg of the German Elite League according to a release on the team's web site. Benn was selected to the 2011-12 NHL All-Star Game, finishing the season with 63 points in 71 games. He could make his debut for the Freezers as early as Friday when the team plays Mannheim, according to Allen.

Colorado Avalanche forward Matt Duchene has also signed with Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League, according to a team release. Duchene, who scored 14 goals and 28 points in 58 games for the Avs last season could join the team as early as next week, according to the report.

"He has friends there, and it's within hours of his home in Slovakia and it's a great hockey city," Chara's agent Matt Keator told USA Today.

The former Norris Trophy winner has 137 goals and 459 points in 1,007 career games with the Bruins, Ottawa Senators and New York Islanders.
