Anaheim Ducks defenceman Mathieu Carle, who is playing for Dinamo Riga, has been suspended two games by the Kontinental Hockey League after he received a match penalty in a game on Monday night.
In a game against Metallurg Magnitogorsk, the league said that Carle appeared to make contract with a referee during the game. He received the match penalty for abuse of officials and unsportsmanlike conduct.
The league's discipline committee said a five-game ban would have been the maximum allowed for the offence.
Carle has two goals and one assist in 19 games this season for Riga.
