SAN ANTONIO - Abbotsford goaltender Barry Brust broke a 55-year-old American Hockey League record and the Heat went on to beat the San Antonio Rampage 3-2 in a shootout Saturday.

Brust allowed a power-play goal to Rampage forward James Wright in the second period, ending his shutout run at 268 minutes 17 seconds.

That surpassed the previous mark of 249:51 set by Hockey Hall of Famer Johnny Bower, who set the record with the Cleveland Barons in 1957.

Brust hadn't been scored on since Oct. 20 against the Chicago Wolves before recording three straight shutouts.

Abbotsford's Carter Bancks scored the decisive goal in the 11th round of the shootout, while Paul Byron and Brett Olson had a goal apiece in regulation for the Heat (12-2-3).

Quinton Howden had the other goal for San Antonio (4-9-3).
