EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Eskimos have released import guard Devin Tyler.

According to TSN's CFL analyst Dave Naylor, Tyler was granted his early release to pursue NFL opportunities ahead of the February 15th free agency date.

He began the season on the suspended list as he served a 90-day jail sentence for a 2011 assault that occurred in a nightclub in his hometown of Washington D.C.

The Eskimos kept a roster spot for Tyler while he served his sentence. He rejoined the team prior to game six.

He started in 11 games and was on the reserve list for two.

The 26-year-old signed to the Eskimos as a free agent on Aug. 15, 2011.

Ejiro Kuale of the Toronto Argonauts was also released Tuesday so that he too could pursue NFL opportunities ahead of February 15th.
