OTTAWA -- Canadian soccer star Christine Sinclair added another award to cap a standout season.

The 29-year-old from Burnaby, B.C., was named the Canadian Soccer Association's female player of the year, as voted on by the Canadian media (50 per cent) and Canadian coaches (50 per cent).

The highlight of Sinclair's 2012 season was the bronze medal victory at the London Olympics, Canada's first medal in a traditional team sport since 1936. Sinclair scored an Olympic record six goals to earn the Golden Boot, including a hat trick in a heartbreaking semifinal loss to the United States.

Sinclair has been named the CSA's female player of the year nine years in a row, and 10 times overall.

The men's award winner will be announced Wednesday.
