The Detroit Tigers have reached an agreement with free agent starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez on a five-year, $80 million contract, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
Considered to be one of the top free agent arms available, the 28-year-old was acquired by the Tigers in a trade with the Miami Marlins last season.
He totaled a 9-13 record with a 3.86 ERA over 31 combined starts between the two teams.
The Venezuelan was even better in the playoffs, posting a 1.77 ERA in three starts, as the Tigers reached the World Series.
