Blue Jays sign infielder LaRoche to minor-league deal

The Toronto Blue Jays signed 1B/3B Andy LaRoche to a minor-league contract on Wednesday with an invite to spring training.

LaRoche appeared in 96 games between Columbus (Cleveland) and Pawtucket (Boston) in the International League (AAA), posting a .251 average with 20 doubles, 12 home runs and 41 RBI in 2012.

The 29-year-old right-handed hitter has played in 403 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Oakland Athletics, batting .226 with 22 home runs and 133 RBI over five Major League seasons.

In another roster move, righthander Sam Dyson was claimed off waivers by the Miami Marlins.
