Alex Bureau stopped 38-of-39 shots in relief as the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles came from behind to beat the visiting Baie-Comeau Drakkar 5-3 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
David Honzik started in net for Cape Breton but, after allowing two goals on four shots in the opening three minutes of the game, Bureau took over and gave his club a chance to win.
The victory was the first for Bureau since Dec. 12th and just the fourth of the season for the rookie, who sports a 4.90 goals-against average in 17 appearances.
Charles-Eric Legare had a goal and an assist for the Screaming Eagles (11-34-8), who snapped a four-game winless streak, while Michael Clarke had a goal and an assist.
Legare's three-point performance was the first of his career and the 18-year-old now has five goals and seven points in 14 contests since being acquired from the Rimouski Oceanic.
Clark Bishop, Bronson Beaton and Bryce Milson also scored for Cape Breton, which sits last in the QMJHL standings.
Raphael Bussieres scored two goals for the Drakkar (36-14-5), who held leads of 2-0 and 3-1 in the first period, and Alec Jon Banville had the other.
Baie-Comeau's Francis Desrosiers took the loss after allowing four goals on 12 shots in 29 minutes of action. Philippe Cadorette replaced Desrosiers midway through the second period and stopped 5-of-6 shots in relief.
Cape Breton went 1 for 4 on the power play while Baie Comeau failed to score on eight chances with the man advantage.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Quebec 3, Victoriaviile 1 and Val-d'Or 4, Sherbrooke 2.
Two games were cancelled on Saturday due to weather. Acadie-Bathurst versus Halifax has been rescheduled for March 11 while Rimouski versus Moncton will be played on Feb. 11.
At Sydney, N.S., Bussieres opened the scoring for Baie-Comeau at 2:31 of the first period and Banville added another 45 seconds later, which led to Honzik being pulled from Cape Breton's net.
Legare responded for the Screaming Eagles at 6:19 before Bussieres tacked on his second goal of the period to make it 3-1 Drakkar.
Milson scored shorthanded at 14:54 to bring Cape Breton within a goal after 20 minutes of play.
Clarke tied the game on the power play 2:55 into the second period and Beaton scored the eventual winner at 9:52.
Bishop scored late in the second to give his club a two-goal lead heading into the final period.
Baie-Comeau outshot the Screaming Eagles 17-2 in the final 20 minutes, however Bureau was steady as he turned every shot away for the come-from-behind victory.

At Quebec City, Logan Shaw scored twice and Francois Brassard stopped 31-of-32 as the Remparts (30-19-4) halted a three-game winless streak by defeating Victoriaville (22-23-8).

At Val-d'Or, Que., Francis Tremblay turned away 39 shots and Brandon Hynes, Vincent Dunn and Anton Zlobin each had a goal and an assist as the Foreurs (29-22-3) handed Sherbrooke (14-32-6) its fourth loss in a row.
