WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced that the baseball club has acquired and signed left-handed pitcher Pete Gehle from the Sioux Falls Pheasants in exchange for future considerations.

Gehle, 25, made 18 starts for the Pheasants last season, going 6-10 with a 5.50 ERA, as he threw 104.2 innings. He was especially solid at home for Sioux Falls. He posted a 5-2 record and 2.78 ERA in seven starts at Sioux Falls Stadium.
"He pitched well against us in the games we saw him last year," Forney said. "He's still a young guy and was able to log 100 innings in this league. That's important when you're putting together a rotation for the season. We have some big expectations for him. We want him to come in and compete for a spot in the backend of our rotation."

A product of Flagstaff, Ariz., Gehle was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 27th round of the 2010 MLB amateur draft and played two seasons with Great Falls in the rookie Pioneer League.

The Goldeyes now have seven players signed for the 2013 season, including five pitchers and two position players.
